Gómez Pin, Víctor

Víctor Gómez Pin studied Philosophy at La Sobornne and obtained his doctorate (docteur d’état) with a thesis on Aristotelianism. In 1979, he became the first director of the Department of Philosophy of the University of the Basque Country, and taught there until 1993. He is currently Professor of Philosophy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he teaches the subjects Epistemology, Philosophy and Mathematics, and Fundamental Philosophy. He has also taught at Venice International University, city where he received the International Award of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in 2009. He has also received the Anagrama and Espasa de Ensayo awards.

Professor Gómez Pin is coordinator of the International Ontology Congress/Congreso Internacional de Ontología, whose editions have been carried out under the sponsorship of UNESCO for twenty years, and boasts of a permanent scientific committee including eminent philosophers such as American philosopher Daniel Dennett and Nobel Prize winner Frank Wilczek.
