Julio Lafuente López (1951, Zuera) holds a degree and doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Zaragoza, where he lectured between 1973 and 1989. He joined the Public University of Navarre in 1989 as professor of Algebra. He was Chancellor of the University from 2007 to 2015.
Julio Lafuente has authored numerous research projects, some of whose results appear in canonical texts on the subject, such as Finite Soluble Groups by Doerk and Hawkes, and Classes of Finite Groups by Ballester-Bolinches and Ezquerro. His areas of research include finite groups, classes of group, primitive groups, group representations and cohomology, and codes.
He has participated as a member of the Spanish Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI) for two years, in the scientific field of Mathematics and Physics, and has led seven subsidised research projects since 1988, five of which were for the Ministry of Education.
Professor Lafuente has taught Algebra, Advanced Calculus and Algebra, Codes and Cryptography, and Information and Coding Theory at the Public University of Navarre's Technical School of Industrial and Telecommunications Engineering.
Julio Lafuente López has also held the following posts at the Public University of Navarre: vice-chairman for Research on the Governing Commission, head of the Mathematics and Computing Department, deputy vice-chancellor for Research, deputy vice-chancellor for Academic Affairs and Chief Coordinator of Entrance Testing.
