Otaegui Madurga, Oihana

Oihana Otaegui Madurga (San Sebastian, 1976) is an Engineer in Automation and Industrial Electronics from the University of Navarra (1999) and holds a Master’s Degree (2003) and a PhD (2005) in Industrial Engineering from the same University, where she also received the Doctor Europeus mention.

She started her professional career in 1999 as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute of Integrated Circuits in Erlangen, (Germany),where she completed 6-month stays combined with the Basque Government's Research Grant to complete her PhD. From 2003 to 2007, she was Lead Researcher at the Department of Efficient Systems, where she was in charge of Embedded Software Algorithms research. In 2007 she joined Vicomtech as Lead Researcher to launch an emerging line of research on smart transport systems. In 2009 she became the Head of the Smart Transport Systems department, which was formed by 25 researchers.

That year she also became the Regional Manager (Gipuzkoa/Basque Country) and President of the Scientific Evaluation Tribunal of the European Satellite Navigation Competition (Galileo Masters) organised by Anwendugszentrum Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, the ESA (European Space Agency) and the GSA (European GNSS Agency). Likewise, she is an Associate Lecturer at the University of the Basque Country in the Smart Transport Systems Master's Degree, teaching, since 2013, her subjects in English: Principles of Transport Modelling and Communications.

Oihana Otaegui Madurga is a corresponding member of JAKIUNDE since noviembre 2023 (previously, she was a young corresponding member from November 2016 until December 2021).
